Reality stars' divorce stalls in California court

Tarek and Christina El Moussa are well known for their popular reality television program, "Flip or Flop." In the last year, though, the California couple as begun divorce proceedings to bring their seven year marriage to an end. Tarek filed paperwork to begin their divorce in January of this year but since neither party to the presumptive divorce has taken any definitive steps to move it forward.

While divorces can take some time to work through in order for the partners to settle all of their differences and come through with court-backed agreements and orders that give them rights to support, child custody, and property, the hold up in this divorce is not due to negotiations. Rather, the court in which the initial divorce paperwork was filed has allegedly contact the parties to remind them that their divorce may be dismissed if they do not take steps to continue it.

With the many emotional and financial decisions that individuals must make during the divorce process it can be easy to forget that it is actually a legal undertaking. Gaining the legal status of married requires individuals to seek proper legal recognition of their relationships and then when they wish to end those relationships they must again obtain legal permission to become single.

Proper notices must be delivered between the parties and as the responding party Christina El Moussa must file responsive documents with the court to continue the legal process of divorce. If they fail to do so, the El Moussa's may remain married despite their apparent desires to live their lives separate and apart from each other.
